Breed Standards

The Council may direct the Society to reject or to cancel the registration or recording of an Nguni that does not continue to comply with the following set of minimum standards.

FIRST REGISTRATION FEMALES

  • Must calve within 24 months of inspection date.
  • No calving interval may exceed 730 days.
  • A cow must rear at least 2 of any 3 consecutive calves (up to weaning age).

Semen and Embryo Donors

 

The Society must control the practice of AI and ET in Nguni herds in accordance with the Act.

PROCEDURE FOR APPLICATION

  • Apply in writing to the Society;
  • Apply for co-ownership if applicable;
  • Bull for AI Centres will be recommended by Inspectors and approved by a Committee appointed by the Council.
